How Can I Help You?

Here at the Kirk Library......

We really strive to fulfill our students' needs when it comes to books for pleasure reading, book reports or research projects. Whether a patron is looking for a duplicate or triplicate copy of a Magic Tree House for a Buddy Read, or doing research on a Native American Tribe for third grade, our thorough collection at Kirk usually meets the requests of our students.

For our younger students, we work with them on following the Five Finger Rule, in which new readers are guided through the picture books, easy readers and chapter books by counting the number of words they don't know on a page, thus assessing whether a book is right for their reading level.

In years past, we have helped supplement fourth graders as they prepare for their Living Wax Museum characters and the research involved in that project, as well as the fourth grade mission reports. We are continually looking to provide support for fifth grade as they work on their bi-weekly current-event assignments, stay on course with their reading goals, and build towards middle school through the knowledge of how to use all the library resources as they prepare for their next step in education.
