Spring Break Childcare ’14

Director’s Blog March 2014 – Spring Break Childcare

Director's blog header

Dear Kirk Parents,

During the upcoming spring break, April 14 – 25, we have a major, emergency plumbing project to accomplish, which will require the disruption of water to the campus for a number of days.  We have in the past offered childcare to those who need it during this break. This year, however, we are requesting, if at all possible, that you make other arrangements during this time.

Since the water at the TotCenter and in the Science House will not be disrupted, we can accommodate a small number of children, if necessary, in those two locations. We know that some of you rely on us for childcare during the break, and we feel responsible to help those who have no other options.

If you are unable to place your child with friends or family, and you need Kirk to provide childcare, please notify Hillary in the school office as soon as possible.

With the unpredictability of construction, it is hard to pinpoint specific days when the disruption will occur. As time gets closer, we will try to evaluate whether we can be on the main campus at all during that time. We will keep you apprised.

There is a bright spot to this inconvenience. The adult bathrooms, which have served us well and held up for sixty years, will be refurbished and enlarged.  Although the pressing issues are underground, this gives us the opportunity to “do it right” and complete a job that is long over due.  Our staff, parents, and friends, will be able to enjoy this welcome change.

Thank you for your understanding, and please be in touch if you are one of those families who cannot make other childcare arrangements.

Carol

7- Miss Gretchen, our librarian, is looking for bookshelves and display cases that you may be interested in getting rid of or just loan out for the Used Book Sale next week. Please contact Miss Gretchen at [email protected] for any questions regarding the Used Book Sale.
