This Week At Kirk! February 17-21

Hello Kirk Families,

Here is what’s happening around Kirk this week!

1- Kirk Student Council’s Helping Hearts for MS fundraiser continues now through Feb. 21. All donations go to the National MS Society. We still need to raise $1000 to reach our goal and beat last year’s donation of $1933!! Each classroom has a jar where children can put in bills, change, or checks for the MS Society. Help us reach 100% participation. Please help us beat MS!!

2- Your Pancake Breakfast Committee is working hard to prepare a fabulous breakfast and basket raffle for your enjoyment on Saturday, March 8, 8am-11am. However, they need your help collecting donations for the basket raffle! We are including a copy of the packet here in case you need extra donation letters!! Please turn in your donations by this Friday, Feb. 21 to Ajna Burke c/o Kirk School office.

3- Each classroom is putting together a themed basket for the raffle at Pancake Breakfast. See your room mom for your classroom’s theme and help your class create an amazing basket!! Donations due by this Friday!!

4- Our All School Open House is next Tuesday, February 25 from 6:15 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Your family and friends are invited to visit our school that evening and see what our Kirk children have been creating throughout this school year. All classrooms, the tech and science lab as well as the art room will be on display. 5th grade will be selling pizza dinners and Menchies that evening. Please help support them as they try to reach their fundraising goal for their graduation celebration!!

5- Six Flags Read to Succeed Reading Club has started and will continue through Feb. 24. Children in grades K-5th grades have a chance to earn a Magic Mountain amusement park ticket if they complete 6 hours of reading before Feb. 24. Reading logs went home with your children last week but we are including a copy here for your convenience. Please contact Miss Gretchen, our school librarian, for questions at [email protected]

6- Preschool Parent/Teacher conferences have started. Please see your teacher to sign up for your conference.

7- Elementary children will have yoga this Friday, please have your children bring their yoga mats and the girls should wear shorts under their skirts and dresses.

8- The Used Book sale is coming soon to Kirk! March 3-9 in the breezeway! You may start to bring your gently used books and dvds to donate to the book sale starting next week, Feb 24. Please be discriminating about the type of reading materials and dvds you donate, as our children do go shopping at the sale everyday and seem to have a knack for picking out the one book that’s not appropriate for them.

Hope you get a chance to enjoy some of the fun things happening around Kirk this week!
